Have you really discovered Lancashire’s finest food secrets yet…?

If you, like me, enjoy dining at the finest restaurants, buying, cooking and eating local produce and understand the positive effects of buying British produce, then Food Hero Tours is for you.

We will take you on unique behind the scenes visits to many of Lancashire's top food and drink producers, who not only supply Michelin and Celebrity Chefs, but have won national and regional awards themselves and are ambassadors for the Northwest.

Discover the realities of their lives, hear their stories, and understand their passion and dedication to supply you with the best produce Lancashire has to offer.

Food Hero Tours are for friends or colleagues, of groups no larger than 12 people, and are for the over 18's, so that you can gain a more in depth knowledge of each product. We can, of course, happily arrange smaller bespoke groups and even couple's tours should you so wish, though these will be price reflective.

Accommodation recommended by ourselves is selected with fine dining in mind, no less than 4 and 5 star Quality in Tourism rated, and reflects either a traditional quirky atmosphere or a more modern style.

Our aim is to encourage more direct purchasing, find missing links in the distribution chain and minimise supermarket grips on our hardworking farmers and producers. We work reciprocally and collaboratively with our producers and eating establishments, so that everyone benefits including you!

Please get in touch by sending me an email: mail@foodherotours.com and follow our exploits on Facebook and Twitter on which interest is growing by the day!

I look forward to speaking to you in the next few months and meeting you as you embark on your first tour.

Kind regards

Julie Whalley

Chef, Rural Business Advisor and Fine Diner and Founder of Food Hero Tours.

Lancashire Food Tours

A typical tour day with accommodation recommended by Food Hero Tours could be…

8.30am - Start the day with a typical freshly prepared Lancashire breakfast complete with black pudding, local eggs, bacon and sausages at your selected accommodation.

9.30am - Meet up at a central location with Food Hero Tours and our luxury vehicles.

10.00am - Meet your first Lancashire Food Hero for an in depth tour and explanation of their produce. A taste the difference session, and opportunity to purchase produce directly and discuss your queries and recipe ideas.

12.30pm - A three Course Lunch at a fine dining restaurant or even on site with a cookery demonstration by myself, or our own Celebrity Chef - Philippa James of F Word Fame, and food and drink writer for Lancashire Life Magazine! You never know, you may meet another celebrity face along the way!

2.00pm - Move to your second producer to meet the face behind the name of some of the UK’s finest quality foods, ask all producers that you get hands on as possible! If you so wish!

4.30pm - You will be transported back to our meeting point, then back to your accommodation. Who knows - perhaps a little afternoon tea, a stroll in our beautiful countryside or a dip in the pool, before dining in your hotels restaurant where the menu will reflect the very best of Lancashire local produce.

Why not follow up our tour day with a spot of shopping in our beautiful traditional market towns, a little fishing on the river Ribble or the Lune, pony trekking on the wild moors with a stop for lunch, walking in the hills with a Lancashire picnic, clay pigeon shooting, off road driving, or perhaps take in a local cookery course with Philippa, all of which can be arranged through Food Hero Tours.

If you need walking equipment we can even organise this too! We have received overwhelming support from Visit Britain, Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board, Food Northwest, Made in Lancashire and Business Link.

Further producers are being specially selected and brought on board every week and so keep an eye on this page...
